My speech
My speech topic is Native trees. I chose this topic because Native trees are important to New Zealand. When I presented my speech I felt a little bit scared I used eye contact but could have been a little bit louder.
My Speech
Why are Native trees Important to New Zealand? Do you know what Native trees are? Well I do and I can tell you. Native trees are trees that can ONLY!!! grow In New Zealand and you can't chop them down. It Is Illegal. Trees such as the Kauri, the pohutukawa and the kowhai tree are Native to New Zealand. Now listen to my three reasons why we must protect these Native trees.
Firstly, Native trees are important to New Zealand because animals can't live without the trees. They need trees for shelter. Bugs live on the leaves in the bark and on the ground in the roots. The Kiwi needs a Native tree burrow. The more pork needs a Native tree to live in. The little blue penguin can roost among the pohutukawa tree roots.
Secondly, Native trees are important to New Zealand because some birds eat the berries and flowers off them. They provide a food source for our unique Native birds like the',˙ who sucks nectar from the kowhai flower. We need bees to suck the nectar from the Native flowers which helps pollinate and helps grow more trees and plants. The Kereru needs to eat the puriri berries to help spread the seeds around and grow more seedlings.
Finally, Native trees are important to New Zealand because they help clean the air and give us oxygen so we can breathe. Plants create oxygen with photosynthesis. Animals and plants breathe in oxygen.
I believe We should look after our New Zealand Native trees. They are very important. By Sienna G.
